    Power Level 1 & Power Level 2:

The program focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. Power Level 1 Skating - must be working on Stage 3 CANSkate, while Power Level 2 Skating must be completed Stage 3 CANskate. To enter these programs, skaters must be taking or already completed CanSkate Stage 3 and must have a full grasp on how to skate before entering any Power sessions.. For skaters learning to skate please see CanSkate Sessions. Please note that if your skater has not passed Stage 2 CANSkate, they should be registered in our regular CANSkate program first.

To ensure that all of our Power skaters needs are being met, there will be requirements for enrolment in the power programs going forward.   We will no longer be placing skaters based on age but rather on skill and development levels.

Power helps develop basic skating abilities in a power skating environment, including balance skills, forward and backward skating, stopping, turning and agility skills. The curriculum is presented in three progressive stages complete with awards to encourage participation and motivate skaters.

Power programs are taught in group format by National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) certified Skate Canada coaches.

    Advanced and Elite Power:

Advanced and Elite Power program consists of skills divided into two broad stages of development, arranged in progression with gradual increase in complexity. This program is divided into AdvancedPower and ElitePower.

Skaters are evaluated based on skills (balance, control and agility) as well as their timed performance of a speed based test. Skaters receive a mark combining their skill performance plus test time.

Power is taught in group format by NCCP PowerSkate certified professional coach.

AdvancedPower focuses on balance, control and agility through proper body alignment and movement for improved balance and stronger edges. Advanced Power - Skaters must have passed Intro Power 2 to register.

ElitePower focuses on acquisition of efficient technique including the technical aspects of stride and acceleration to improve speed and agility. This final stage incorporates stick handling with the puck/ring. ElitePower - skaters must have passed Advanced Power to register.
